Five largest cities:
1.) Adis Abeba
2.) Nazret
3.) Gonder
4.) Mek'ele
5.) Awasa
Population of the largest city: 3,273,000
City #2: 1,636,500
City #3: 1,091,000
City #4: 818,250
City #5: 654,600
Population of City #2: 324,000
Population of City #3: 323,900
Population of City #4: 323,700
Population of City #5: 300,100
Rank-size-rule Valid or Invalid: The rank-size-rule is completely proven invalid due to the extreme differences between the idealistic population size and the actual population of each of the smaller cities. Each of the actual populations are around 1/10th the size of the largest city. Not only is the second largest city much smaller than the first but the pattern of the third largest being possibly 1/11th the size is wrong as well. Every city from the second to the fifth are all in between a 1/10th and an 1/11th size smaller which further disproves the validity of the rank-size-rule in Ethiopia.
