Rank-size-rule Valid or Invalid: The rank-size-rule is invalid for the cities of Malaysia due to several facts. First, Kualu Lumpur (the second largest city) is much larger than the predicted 1/2 the size of the largest city, in fact it is not even hardly a fraction small enough to divide by. Second, Klang does begin the larger decline that may somewhat prove validity of the rank-size-rule by being about 1/2 the size of the largest but it is sill not quite accurate being almost double what the third cities population would be. Lastly, the last two cities do not continue the gradual decline of population but hold the level of population in the 800,000's which is a little higher than 1/2 the size of Kota Bharu. Therefore the rank-size-rule is proven invalid in Malaysia's case.
